Thank you for looking at the IIS website and being interested in our vacancies. If you have seen a role advertised on our website or elsewhere and would like to apply, this page contains some useful information on how to approach applying for a job at the Institute.
To begin with, please read the job description for the role very carefully. You can find this if you read the advert for the job right through to the end and then click on to the job description web link and open up the file on your computer or tablet. Please take the time to fully read the job description. Along with the advert, it will tell you about the essential skills, experiences and qualifications that you must have to make a successful application.
For some of our vacancies, having the right to work in the UK is a key requirement – the advert or job description will specify where this is the case. If you do not have this right – and to have it you will normally be a citizen of the UK or one of the other member states of the European Union – please do not apply as your application will be rejected.
If you do meet the criteria, and wish to apply, the next step is to click on the ‘apply now’ button. This will take you to another screen. Please complete the information requested, and upload your CV and covering letter. You don't have to include a covering letter, but we do normally expect one. Please don’t email us directly – we don’t accept applications this way around – you must use this process.
The deadline date and time for all jobs is fixed and spelled out in the job advert. Once this time is passed the system will automatically reject all applications sent in after that point, so do please allow yourself enough time to make your application.
We will respond to your application in [xx days/weeks] to let you know if you have been shortlisted for interview. Depending on the role you have applied for, you will be required to have one to three interviews.
