The aim of this study is to provide a precise redefinition of the Ifrīqī lapidary script in the period of the Fatimid caliph-imams, starting from an updated epigraphic database that has been enriched by surveys carried out in the last ten years (undocumented funerary steles, collections of epigraphic stucco from Ṣabra al-Manṣūriyya, etc.)

In April 2016, the Institute underwent a three-day review visit by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The purpose of the QAA is to safeguard standards for all Higher Education institutions in the UK, which include Alternative Providers such as the IIS.

پروفسور محمد ارکون (۲۰۱۰-۱۹۲۸) یکی از برجسته‌ترین و تاثیر‌گذارترین چهره‌ها در مطالعات اسلامی مدرن و عضو هیأت امنای مؤسسه بود. او به این دلیل که دانشمند محققی برجسته، منتقدی پویا برای تنش‌های نظری در حوزه‌ی مطالعات اسلامی و روشن‌فکر دلیری در عرصه‌ی عمومی و پرچم‌دار نوگرایی و انسان‌گرایی اسلامی که اغلب در تنگناست، شهرت دارد. پروفسور ارکون همچنین به عنوان عضوی از هیأت امنا در مؤسسه خدمت کرده است. برای ادامه‌ی میراث او، کتاب‌خانه‌ی IIS-ISMC از مقالات دکتر ارکون که توسط همسر او خانم توریا یعقوبی-ارکون  به مؤسسه اهدا شده است در حال ایجاد یک آرشیو است.
