Examples of Corrections and Over-copying

Ms KH59, folio 1a; folio 1b

Copied between Samvat 1848-1895/1792-1838 CE in Punjab (Sialkot).

This is an example of a manuscript within a manuscript, copied by several copyists in different handwriting. The table of contents also illustrates the method of making corrections by over-copying. Copied on Indian paper sewn in the middle, in the Khata (ledger) style of full leather cover, the manuscript includes the titles of the ginans of Pir Satgur Nur and Pir Shams. Over time, the paper has become stained and the edges frayed.
