A Persian Sufi poet and author born in Nishapur (d. 1220 CE). He is well known for many of his works, including Manṭiq al-ṭayr (The Conference of the Birds), a classic Sufi allegory, and Tadhkirat al-awliyā (Biographies of the Saints), which is a biography of many Sufi figures, including Manṣūr al-Ḥallāj.
