In honour of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, host Marco Werman speaks with Daryoush Mohammad Poor, an associate professor at The Institute for Ismaili Studies in the UK, about his life and legacy. Prince Karim Aga Khan IV was the spiritual leader (imam) of the Ismaili Muslim community from 11 July 1957 to 4 February 2025, as well as the founder of The Institute of Ismaili Studies.

Remembering spiritual leader Aga Khan

The World, 5 February 2025

Correction: Prince Karim’s title was “Aga Khan IV” not “the 49th Aga Khan” as stated in the broadcast. “Aga Khan” is an honorific title given to the 46th Ismaili Imam, Hasan Ali Shah, also known as Muḥammad Ḥasan al-Ḥusaynī (d.1881).

In this podcast, produced by Omar Duwaji for The World, Dr Mohammad Poor recounts the institutional actions of His Highness the Aga Khan IV as a reflection of Muslim ethics.
