(Arabic; derived from the root ʿa-d-l; ʿadl and ʿadāla meaning justice, fairness). The word is current in the vocabulary of religion, theology, philosophy, and law. The qadi (judge) must give judgment with ʿadl. The seat of an administrative court is often called Dar al-ʿAdl (House of Justice).
