Alumni Recognition Programme

The Alumni Recognition Programme seeks to acknowledge IIS alumni who have demonstrated a career of exceptional service, professional leadership as well as outstanding accomplishments. As part of the programme, a recognition award will be presented to one winner triennially at the IIS Graduation Ceremony at the Ismaili Centre in London.

Eligibility

Graduates of any of the following programmes are eligible for the Award:

  • The Waezeen and Teacher Education Programme (WTEP)
  • The advanced curriculum-planning programme at the University of London's Institute of Education(IoE) in 1982
  • The joint programme by IIS and McGill leading to the MA in Islamic Studies in the 1980s
  • The Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH)
  • The Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP)
  • PhD Scholarship recipients who are not part of the above categories

 

Criteria

The award committee will review your application based on the following key criteria. This must be reflected in your statement, your CV, and the references submitted on your behalf.

  • Professional or Academic Accomplishment: Achieved a high degree of prominence and leadership in their respective field, which may or may not be directly relevant to the work of the IIS.
  • Contributions to Community Service: Distinguished service to their professional or faith community.

 

Nomination Process

The nomination process for the next award will begin in Januray 2027

You can nominate your fellow alumni for the Award. Self-nominations are accepted and highly encouraged.

The nominee must submit the following documents.

  • Completed nomination form.
  • Short biography (250 - 300 words)
  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae
  • A list of awards or certificates (if applicable)
  • List of 3 relevant references who would be willing to endorse the candidate's nomination.
