Ismaili Festivals: Stories of Celebration by Dr Shiraz Kabani, the first title in the IIS’s Living Ismaili Traditions series, has launched in recent weeks at a series of popular events.
The first launch, hosted by the IIS and ITREB UK, took place at the Ismaili Centre, London, on February 10th and was streamed live by The Ismaili TV. It featured an in-depth, reflective and, at times, emotional discussion between Dr Kabani and Nina Hirji Kheraj on the stories and festivals that inspired the book. It was accompanied by live musical performances.
The event broke IIS records in terms of numbers of online viewers, which reached into the thousands. The live event was also well attended and received positive feedback from those attending.
The next event was hosted by IIS and ITREB Portugal on February 18th at the Ismaili Centre in Lisbon, and was also streamed live on The Ismaili TV. Further events are planned in the US, in Austin at the Austin Jamatkhana Social Hall on March 25th, and in Chicago at Glenview Social Hall on April 2nd.
Ismaili Festivals is the first title in our new Living Ismaili Traditions series, which has been created specifically for the jamat. The series aims to synthesise our academic scholarship and present it in ways that are relevant, accessible and engaging for the broader Jamati readership.
Ismaili Festivals is available to order from your local ITREB.
