From the arrival of Hasan-i Sabbah at Alamut to the departure of Imam Hasan Ali Shah, Aga Khan I, to India, Ismailis in Iran retraces the nearly thousand-year-long history of the Nizari Ismailis in Iran.
Join author Dr Shayesteh Ghofrani as she delves into the rich cultural and intellectual history of the Nizari Ismailis between the 11th and 19th centuries, as well as the institutional work of His Late Highness Prince Karim al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV in Iran. Dr Ghofrani will share her experiences, her research, as well as some exclusive visuals from The Institute of Ismaili Studies that helped her to write this exciting new book.

Author
Dr Shayesteh Ghofrani has a PhD from the University of Exeter in the UK. She is interested in conceptual developments in Islamic history and specialises in the formative period of Shi‘i and Sufi Islam. She has served as a post-doctoral Research Fellow at The Institute of Ismaili Studies, Department of Academic Research and Publications. She is the author of the book Walāya in the Formative Period of Shi‘ism and Sufism: A Comparative Analysis (Routledge, 2023).

Omar Alí-de-Unzaga is the Academic Coordinator of the Qur’anic Studies Unit at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, London, where he is also a lecturer. He is the series editor of the Qur’anic Studies Series (OUP/IIS). He has edited the volume Fortresses of the Intellect: Ismaili and Other Islamic Essays in Honour of Farhad Daftary (2011). He obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2005.
