On 31 July, Dr Wafi Momin, head of the Ismaili Special Collections Unit at IIS conducted a session entitled “Muslim World Between Modernity and Revivalism: Challenges and Opportunities” at Houston HPC Jamatkhana.

The session focused on how Muslim communities in modern times have navigated the challenges of aligning their identity and traditions with modern values or choosing a revivalist/fundamentalist vision of Islam. It also explored the implications of these trends for the Ismaili communities living in a globalised world.
