Sanan Aliyev is Website Manager in the Department for Communications and Development and leads the management of key digital and development projects at the Institute of Ismaili Studies. He works closely and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, leading the delivery of IIS website re-platforming and content migration, the launch of IIS e-Commerce and blog sites. He is also responsible for the delivery of IIS multilingual site and internal intranet platform. Working in collaboration with marketing and content teams, he helps develop and embed digital delivery processes and workflows, delivers training and supports colleagues across the IIS with digital content and systems management. Sanan is also responsible for managing relationships with external agencies to ensure timely delivery of digital projects.
Sanan has experience working in the charity, creative and cultural sectors in the UK and internationally, including the Aga Khan Foundation and at Tribal Worldwide, where he worked on a market leading automotive account with responsibilities for curating, improving, and maintaining website and app content.
Sanan holds a BA in Oriental Studies from Baku State University, which gave him the opportunity to study the culture, history and literature of Muslim civilisation with a main focus on the Middle East. He completed an MA in International Liaison and Communications from the Diplomatic Academy of London, University of Westminster. Sanan speaks four languages: English, Azerbaijani, Turkish and Russian.
