Dr Rahim Gholami
Research Associate
Rahim Gholami obtained his BSc in Translation Studies from Azad University, Mashhad, in 1995. The title of his BSc dissertation is: ʿAṭṭār the Physician of the Body and the Soul in the Conference of the Birds (Manṭiq al-Ṭayr). Later he joined the Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH) at The Institute of Ismaili studies in 1999. In October 2002, he received his MSc in Translation Studies from Edinburgh University. The title of his MSc dissertation is: Translating Genre and the Discourses of Shams. Rahim graduated with a PhD in Arab and Islamic Studies from the University of Exeter in October 2021. The title of his PhD thesis is: The Wayfarer’s Sojourn at the Banquet: The Hermeneutics of Nāṣir-e Khusraw’s Esoteric Guidance.
Dr Gholami is at present a Research Associate at the Department of Academic Research and Publications at The Institute of Ismaili Studies. His research interests include Shiʿi esoterism and poetics, and Ismaili intellectual traditions, and esoteric hermeneutics and literature.
Dr Gholami’s forthcoming publication is: The Banquet of the Brethren: The Hermeneutics of Nāṣir-i Khusraw’s Esoteric Guidance (An introduction, English translation and critical Persian edition of Nāṣir-i Khusraw’s Khwān al-Ikhwān).
