Professor Nader El-Bizri holds a senior executive and academic leadership role at the IIS. He served before as the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Sharjah, and has been a tenured Professor of Civilization Studies and Philosophy at the American University of Beirut, where he acted as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and as the Director of the university-wide General Education in the liberal arts. He was also a Leverhulme Visiting Professor in Intellectual History at Durham University, and has been a longstanding affiliated scholar with the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris. Moreover, he is the General Editor of the ‘Epistles of the Brethren of Purity’ book series that is published by Oxford University Press in association with the IIS, and he received various prestigious international awards, including the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of the Sciences Prize.
