In this lecture, we will explore the origins and functions of religion and morality using insights garnered from sociology, evolutionary science, and philosophy. The literary refractions of these questions in the works of Dostoyevsky, Butler, Ferdowsi, and Obeyd of Zakan will also be discussed.
